Most people experience cable television before they experience
satellite tv. So, most people don't fully realize exactly what
satellite tv offers until they somehow end up with it on accident.
You may have seen some of the satellite tv offers that have been
shown on tv. In a nutshell, they offer a free satellite dish,
free multiple room receivers, free installation, free delivery
and more. It really does seem like a great deal!
The Good Points
The best thing about cable tv is that if you happen to be able
to get it in your neighborhood, you can usually bundle a few different
services with it. Sometimes you can get a bundle that includes
cable tv, high speed internet, phone services and more. On the
other side of this, satellite tv offers television programming
only. The exception to this is the DIRECWAY high speed satellite
internet service that is offered by Directv®.
The best thing about satellite tv is two-fold. The low price
combined with the programming choices. Another option with satellite
tv that is very attractive is the currents offers that are being
made available through DIRECT and Dish Network. They have offers
for free satellite systems and are also including a free DVR or
HDTV upgrade as an added bonus. One of the other noticeable bonuses
with satellite tv is that you can get this service from just about
anywhere. All that is required is a clear view of the southern
sky.
The Bad Points
In the cable tv department the bad points start off with the
higher prices. It is still generally cheaper to go with the free
satellite tv offers. Cable tv still has trouble keeping up with
satellite television offers when it comes to HDTV and DVR technology
as well. Satellite tv is a DBS or Direct Broadcast Service so
that means that the satellite signal goes directly to you without
any stopovers. Cable tv on the other hand, is much different.
With cable tv the signal has to be re-broadcast from several different
way-points and therefore loses a great deals of its signal validity.
The bad points for satellite tv include... well, I can't think
of any right now but I will give it some thought and I will come
back to this page and post some of my thoughts when that time
comes. In then mean time... take the time to review the Dish
Network and DIRECTV comparison page just in case you ever
do decide to take advantage of the offers that are available from
these satellite tv providers.
